Performance Review

December 2020

We’ve nearly reached the end of 2020 and it was nice to cap things off with a winner on the final Flat fixture of the year at Dundalk.

Morning Approach 18 12 20

Morning Approach makes a winning debut in Dundalk

Morning Approach is a lovely filly and it was great to see her make a winning debut against the boys in a seven-furlong maiden. I bought her at the sales last year from Sheila Grassick after her daughter Cathy told me to have a look at her. She’s a good-looking filly who can hopefully have a good season on the grass next year.

I’m delighted to have another nice horse again for the syndicate, which includes Eddie McGarry, Richard Dunne and Annie O’Rourke, who’s been working hard on the front line in Naas Hospital. Frank McGarry was the one who had the choice of two fillies here originally and he picked her out. Unfortunately he’s no longer with us but it’s nice that his son and wife are still involved in the syndicate.

Cnodian made her debut during the month on the all weather and will be a grand filly, she just needs a little break. Mullacash Buzz has been given an opening handicap mark of 63 and hopefully he’ll be competitive off that. We’re allowing him some time and will get him out again in the spring.

Carmel Delaney has been very loyal to Windham Belle but unfortunately the filly has been disappointing. We’ll look to give her another run over six furlongs, hopefully showing her form again before the February sales.

On behalf of Amanda and I, we’d like to take the chance to thank everyone for their continued support throughout a unique year. In particular, we’d like to extend our gratitude to the staff here at Rathbride Stables who have worked hard to keep the show on the road.

We hope you all have a very happy Christmas and that we can all return to more normal times in the new year.
